8 – Radeon HD 7770 DC TOP Power Consumption and Temperature

ASUS HD 7770 DirectCU, FurMark stress test

The total power consumption of the testbed at idle state is 94W (the ZeroCore Power technolody helps to get this low power consumption at idle). The GPU temperature of the HD 7770 at idle is 34°C and the card is very quiet (my testbed is a pure open-case system).

AMD ZeroCore Power technology

For stressing the HD 7770, I used FurMark 1.9.2 in 800×600 windowed mode, burn-in and dynamic background checked.
The CCC (Catalyst Control Center) allows to set the PowerTune level: -20%, 0% or +20%. I tested with default setting (0%) and with +20%.

  • PowerTune 0%: total power consumption: 206W, max GPU temperature: 70°C
  • PowerTune +20%: total power consumption: 206W, max GPU temperature: 70°C

As we can see, the PowerTune settings have no effect on the power consumption (which is not the case with a card like the Radeon HD 6970).

The power consumption of the HD 7770 board can be approximated by:

(206-94-20)*0.9 = 82.8W

where 20 is the power consumption of the CPU when FurMark is running and 0.9 is the PSU efficiency factor.

That graphic card has shader clock. It is new. That shader clock is 2000MHz with overclocked. But that graphic card has negative. The memory is 1GB. It is not bad.

    Is it DirectX 11 compatible?
Dont know SO much about graphic cards but if it is i’ll buy it
