AMD Radeon Software Adrenalin 23.1.2 Released for Radeon RX 7900


AMD Radeon Software Adrenalin Graphics Driver

 
AMD has published a new version of its graphics driver for Radeon graphics cards. But this new driver is only for Radeon RX 7900 XT / XTX only. Looks like AMD has some difficulties to update its driver for all previous generations like RX 6000, RX 5000, etc. I hope AMD will release shortly an unified driver with RX 7000, RX 6000, RX 5000 and other GPUs.

Actually this driver supports many more GPUs than RX 7900 ones. But weirdly, most of them are old GPUs. Complete list is available HERE.

Here are the main changes of version 23.1.2:

– Forspoken
– IREE compiler using MLIR interface on Vulkan.
– Additional Vulkan extensions (see here).

Fixed Issues
– AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition may fail to launch with the error message “Delayed Write Failed” on Microsoft® Windows 11 version 22H2.
– Poor performance and load time may be observed while playing SpaceEngine.
– Missing or flickering textures may be observed while playing Emergency 4.

Adrenalin 23.1.2 exposes OpenGL 4.6 and 284 extensions (core profile) for a Radeon RX 7900 XTX. Compared to previous 23.1.1, two OpenGL extensions have been added:

– GL_ARB_gpu_shader_int64
– GL_ARB_spirv_extensions

GL_ARB_spirv_extensions is back with 37 extensions… This extension as well as many other have been removed from Adrenalin 22.7.
