3DMark12 Direct3D 11 Tech-Demo Preview

Here’s a short preview of the upcoming 3DMark12, based on Direct3D 11 (11.1 ?). 3DMark12 will be released after the release of Windows 8 and will be compatible with Windows 7 and Vista.

The 3DMark DirectX 11 tech demo brings this scene to life with intelligent tessellation and advanced volumetric lighting using real-time light scattering. The visible particles and clouds of smoke in the scene react to other objects using fluid dynamics simulation. Post processing, ambient occlusion and various lens effects complete the look.

This video was definitely captured in real-time, judging by the stuttering and tearing.

Not very impressive compared to the latest engines from Epic, Crytek and Square Enix. But since that’s not the point I guess it’s ok 🙂

LOL I’ve watched this video on the low end laptop with he looooooow end Intel 4500M graphics. It sucks.

I remember looking forward to seeing the new 3DMark demos back in the day – you know, when they were actually pretty impressive.

The last few years haven’t had any real innovations, and sort of… lacked direction. No ambiance or style. Hell, a lot of 4/64k demos look more _interesting_ than this.

Farb-rausch, Conspiracy and many other coders can do better with only few kilobytes…

This definitely wins the price for the worst cloth or human or whatever that thing is animation. I think I haven’t seen such a lame walking animation in a decade
