In this article, Expreview has tested the brand new GeForce GTX 260 Core 216 based on 55nm technology. The first test they did is to see if the GPU temperature of the 55nm GPU is lower than the 65nm version. They used FurMark in Stability Test Mode to overheat the graphics card and log the temperature.
The temperature of 55nm GTX 260 is higher than the one of 65nm, under loaded and idle mode. This is really weird but one explanation might come from the cooler that is smaller in the 55nm version…
By the way, the new version of FurMark with new cool features is planned for the first days of 2009. Stay tuned!
